Weekenders
Whether you're a busy barrister, a multitasking manager, a retired radiologist or a shaky skateboarder. Become a Weekender.
Make a difference
Weekenders is our new programme to help people make a difference in a child's life. As a Weekender you get matched with a child or a young person in foster care to provide guidance, inspiration and stability on a regular basis.
Your role is more that of an aunt or uncle rather than a parent. You'll spend a weekend per month with your Weekender to do fun things like going to the zoo, swimming or visiting a theatre show. We will teach you all the skills you need to build a lasting relationship and we'll support you on your journey.
Why become a Weekender?
Give young people opportunities to thrive.
Have exciting adventures and have fun.
Start with fostering in a way that fits your life.
Do something purposeful that brings you joy.
Learn more about fostering and gain new skills.

Check suitability
If you’re motivated to make a difference, want to support children and have a spare room then you could be a great Weekender.
Get trained
We need to make sure you are well prepared and have all the skills you need to foster. The training and assessment will help you start confidently.
Get matched
As part of your fostering approval, we’ll work with you and our partner local authorities to match you with a child or a young person.
Have fun
You’ll get an allowance to do exciting things – e.g. going to the park for ice cream, enjoying a show or going swimming.
